Godongwana accuses De Ruyter of being ‘economical with the truth'

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter is deliberately deceiving people by not telling them the whole truth about criminal activities at the power utility.
Godongwana made the remarks before the Standing Committee on Finance on Thursday morning.
De Ruyter left Eskom with immediate effect on Wednesday - a day after he made shocking allegations against a high-level politician and the ANC in a TV interview with broadcaster, eNCA.
Godongwana stated that the government had set up a task team “composed of all the law enforcement agencies and they just moved to Megawatt Park [Eskom's headquarters in Sunninghill] and arrested a number of people as a result of that.”
Godongwana told the MPs that De Ruyter is “economical with the truth” and the measures undertaken to stem corruption at the power utility, especially in Mpumalanga.
“An investigation was done, and it found that yes indeed that there are some syndicates in particular in Mpumalanga which also included the police.”
