GOOD suspends Peter de Villiers over sexual misconduct claim
Updated | By Cliff the Reporter
Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has been suspended by GOOD amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
The GOOD party has suspended its councillor in the Drakenstein municipality, Peter de Villiers.
Secretary-general Brett Herron says the suspension of the former Springbok coach comes after the party received a sexual misconduct complaint.
Herron says while De Villiers' suspension is not a finding of guilt, the party views the allegation seriously.
"GOOD’s constitution is unambiguous on gender relations and gender-based violence. The constitution applies to all members, regardless of position.
"De Villiers’ suspension is not a finding of guilt; it reflects the seriousness of the allegations. The party will implement disciplinary processes to determine if the provisions of its constitution have been breached.
"Given the sensitive nature of the allegations, the party will, for now, be making no further comment on the matter."
De Villiers joined the party in 2019, joining forces with leader Patricia de Lille.
