The South African Weather Service has warned of isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers on voter registration weekend.
There is a 30% chance of rain across the country on Saturday.
However, there is a 60% likelihood of scattered thunderstorms which may develop along the Drakensberg mountain range, in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.
Chief forecaster at SAWS Kevin Rae says many parts of the country should expect isolated thundershowers.
"There will be some exceptions for the high ground in the east, including the Drakensberg of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
"The eastern highveld of Mpumalanga, we expect scattered thunderstorms with about 60% likelihood.
"On Sunday, the area of that scattered storms will expand somewhat to include most of the Eastern Cape and Southern KwaZulu-Natal."
He says the southern and the western parts of the Western Cape as well as the northern parts of Limpopo province will remain dry.
The Independent Electoral Commission is holding its second and final voter registration weekend on Saturday and Sunday ahead of this year's general elections.
