Grace Mugabe has been charged with common assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

This is after she allegedly attacked two women at a Sandton hotel who she found with her two sons.

It is still unclear whether the First Lady was in the country using her diplomatic passport.

JacarandaFM News correspondent Zenzele Ndebele confirmed that the First Lady arrived back in Hararare on Tuesday.

Ndebele says Zimbabwe's Minister of Higher & Tertiary Education, Science & Technology Development Jonathan Moyo tweeted that the first lady was never charged.

Police Spokesman Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo  maintains investigations are at an advanced stage.

"During preliminary investigations the legal team of the suspect negotiated that she would hand herself over yesterday, and that didn't happen." Naidoo said

Some media reports suggest that the first lady may still be in the country.
