Hawks arrest 6th suspect in Free State asbestos probe

The Hawks have arrested the 6th suspect linked to the R255 million Free State asbestos audit tender.
All suspects were arrested in various parts of the country, including Gauteng, on Wednesday.
A warrant of arrest has been issued for a 7th suspect.
Gauteng businessman Edwin Sodi is reportedly among the arrested and is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The group is facing charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering.
Sodi appeared before the state capture commission of inquiry on Tuesday and implicated several government officials, including the Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, the Minister of Employment and Labour, Thulas Nxesi, the Deputy Minister of State Security, Zizi Kodwa, and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Pinky Kekana.
He said they received unlawful payments from him between 2012 and 2019.
