Hawks in North West have arrested four suspects found in possession of Pangolins in Mahikeng.
The men were trying to sell the endangered species for R200 000.
The men, aged between 29 and 45, were arrested at Mahikeng Mall on Tuesday.
"The team was following up on information regarding the suspects who were allegedly looking for a buyer for the Pangolins. They are facing charges of contravention of the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act 10 of 2004,” said spokesperson Tlangelani Rikhotso.
"Meanwhile the Pangolins have been taken to a Wildlife Veterinary Hospital."
The suspects are expected to appear in the Mahikeng Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
