Hawks nab human trafficking suspect for R20K bribe
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Hawks have arrested a man suspected of human trafficking for allegedly attempting to bribe a Hawks investigator in Pretoria.

The man, who is an awaiting-trial prisoner, allegedly sent his family to meet with the investigator at a restaurant in Arcadia in an attempt to give the detective R20 000 to influence the case.
The 41-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face an additional charge of corruption.
"The suspect was initially arrested in Sunnyside Pretoria for charges of trafficking in persons and drug dealing in December 2021.” said Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase.
"The Hawks investigation revealed that the suspect whilst in custody, reportedly colluded with his two brothers and wife, Emeka Ogoke (52), Ikeani Okechukwu (36) and Rethabile Ikeani (34) to pay a gratification fee to secure his release."
The other accused were later released on R2000 bail.
