Hlaudi Motsoeneng cancels meeting with civil society organisations
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The SABC's controversial COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, has cancelled a meeting with the Right2Know campaign and other civil society organisations.
Right2Know's Micah Reddy said Motsoeneng is not prepared to meet with them anymore.
"He said he has met with his team and they have decided that they are going ahead with the suspensions. We are having a public meeting today to discuss further protest action there," Reddy said.
On Friday, Motsoeneng promised to give feedback about the suspension of senior journalists amid a protest outside the SABC offices in Auckland Park.
Protesters say protest action will intensify in days to come if SABC bosses don't accede to demands to scrap action taken against journalists.
Three senior staffers have been suspended and three others internally charged for raising issues with new editorial directives.
A demand has been made for Motsoeneng to be booted out and for journalists to be allowed to do their jobs free of interference.
