Friends and family gathered in Hatfield in Pretoria for the memorial service of the late journalist and SABC board member Hope Zinde.
Zinde's son has been accused of her murder after her body was found in the boot of her car parked in the garage of her house in a security estate in Hartbeespoort.
Family representative Jackie Letshufi said they were grateful for every day they could spend with Hope.
"It is very difficult, but it is only God the Almighty who knows and at this moment it is proper and fitting that I must thank the Almighty for having blessed us with a person of the calibre of Hope," he said.
Minister of Small Business Lindiwe Zulu delivered the key note address and said Hope was a role model and the kind of mother that every child could hope for.
"Hope was a women of substance. Hope was a role model in the way she carried herself, in the way she did everything that she did, in her professional and I'm sure she was a role model at home," Zulu said.
