Huis ten Bosch blaze leaves 14 students destitute
Fourteen University of Stellenbosch students lost all their belongings in a fire that ripped through Huis ten Bosch residence on Monday.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire which damaged the roof and eight rooms at the residence.
The university says it has approached its insurance company to establish how the affected students could be assisted.
"Our priority is to get the students settled," says the university's Susan van der Merwe.
"We are currently still in discussions, this is a very recent event. We are talking to our insurance, brokers and they will be looking at various ways of a staggered approach in assisting the students in some way.”
