‘I was not recalled’ - Makhura defiant as he prepares to leave office
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Gauteng Premier David Makhura has denied reports that he has been pushed to resign from his position.

Makhura, together with the ANC’s new provincial executive committee, briefed the media on Sunday in Johannesburg.
His remarks comes amid media reports that he was asked to leave office to make way for the recently elected leadership.
"I said to the leadership that I am ready, we just need to manage this process properly and let's do it in a way that it doesn't create problems in the organisation, create problems in government and it doesn't impact on government service delivery and I am readily available to hand over,” Makhura said.
"I will continue to do this work, I am more interested in ensuring that the provincial government goes into the next phase smoothly. I have not threatened the leadership with resignation, they have not asked me to resign."
Makhura was replaced by Panyaza Lesufi as the new Gauteng ANC chair following the elective conference.
