ICC asks SA to explain failure to arrest Al-Bashir

The International Criminal Court, has requested South Africa to submit reasons why it failed to arrest Sundanese President Omar Al-Bashir during his attendance of the African Union Summit held in Sandton, Johannesburg in June.
Al-Bashir is wanted by the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
He made international headlines during his visit when he left South Africa despite a court order preventing him from doing so.
The ICC has requested a response by 5 October.
