Updated | By African News Agency (ANA)
The matric results of more than 10,000 pupils who wrote examinations held by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) will be released shortly after midnight Tuesday.
IEB chief executive Anne Oberholzer said that the examinations had received the approval of Umalusi, South Africa’s Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training.
Oberholzer said: “There were no major problems and the results have been approved by Umalusi.”
There were 10,228 pupils enrolled full-time who were registered to write the exams, which started on October 19.
There were a further 636 part-time candidates who had been expected to write the exams held at 200 examination centres across the country.
Marking of the exams was centralised and done in Johannesburg and started on December 6.
Exactly how many people wrote the exams will only be known after the results are released after midnight Tuesday.
Pupils who wrote matric examinations held by the Department of Basic Education can expect their results on January 6.
