An Inmate at the Leeukop prison has been charged for the murder of a 50-year-old warden.
Eunice Moloko was found dead on August 10 while on duty at the Leeuwkop Covid-19 isolation site.
Her body was discovered on the floor with her jacked covered in blood.
Correctional Services spokesperson Chrispin Phiri says investigations into Moloko's murder will continue.
"Deputy Minister, Nkosi Holomisa visited the Leeuwkop Management Area on Friday, where he urged the Department of Correctional Services to work together with the SAPS to speedily probe this tragic incident to the fullest.
"Adherence to security procedures is another focal area which will detail the nature of operations which led to this catastrophic incident.”
Moloko worked for Correctional Services for 23 years.
The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) has called on officials at Leeukop to be held accountable.
"Nkosi Holomisa said should investigations reveal that there was negligence on the part of management in the center, the department will not hesitate to take tough action against anyone implicated.
“We appeal to all people to allow the law to take its course and avoid speculations and apportioning blame without facts,” said Phiri.
