Ipid investigating after Hout Bay teen shot

The police watchdog Ipid is investigating the shooting of 14-year-old during a protest.

The teenage boy was shot in the mouth in Hout Bay on Tuesday.
A video of the shooting and moments after has emerged on social media.
The footage was taken by Hout Bay Photographer Peter Parker Michaels.
It shows the injured boy emerge from behind a wooden table as police approach firing rubber bullets.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Moses Dlamini says the matter was not reported to them.
"The shooting was not reported as required by the IPID Act. If no valid reasons are given for not reporting, additional charges will be added," Dlamini explains.
He says officials visited the mother of the victim and obtained her statement on Thursday.
A case of attempted murder is being investigated.
