Jackets required: Gauteng residents in for cold weekend
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The South African Weather Service has warned Gauteng residents to brace for a cold weekend.
The drop in temperatures is set to start on Friday.
The cold snap is also set to grip other parts of the country, including Northern Cape, North West, Free State, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga.
The cold could also lead to higher stages of load shedding, with the country already battling with stage 4 since Wednesday.
“With cold weather expected throughout the day, there is still the 30% rain chance,” said forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela.
“We are expecting it to be cold throughout the weekend, but there is less chance of rain. On Sunday, we are expecting the weather to pick up going into Monday and the rest of next week.”
