Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) officers and a civilian are being hailed as heroes after they rescued two toddlers from a third-story ledge of a Johannesburg building.
According to the JMPD, the officers were on patrol when they came across a group of people at the corners of Bree & End streets who stopped them to assist a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old girl who had climbed out the window on the 3rd floor of a building.

The JMPD says the girls were left alone by their mother while she went to a butcher, and climbed out of an open window during that time.
"They were handed over to their mother on her return.," says the JMPD in a Twitter thread.
The civilian who assisted in the rescue of the toddlers was not named.
