Joburg Emergency warns residents, motorists amid heavy downpours

Motorists have been warned to drive with caution as parts of Johannesburg experience downpours.
The city has seen heavy rain since the weekend.
Joburg emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi also appealed to motorists to avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges.
Residents in low-lying areas have also been urged to monitor the water levels along the rivers.
"Also try to avoid crossing river, streams or bridges, especially the main bridges when we have severe thunderstorms like the one we are having now," said Mulaudzi.
Mulaudzi added rescue teams are on high alert.
"We should be able to respond to any water-related emergencies that occur over night."
