Joburg EMS calls off search for woman swept away by floods
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Emergency services in Johannesburg have called off the search for a woman who was swept away by floods in Sunninghill.

The woman was driving on Rivonia Road, near Witkoppen, when her car was swept into a river last week.
Emergency services only managed to locate the woman’s car.
Joburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo says they have requested neighbouring municipalities to be on the lookout for a missing body.
"After at least five days in water, the body of a drowned person is expected to surface. If it does not surface, it is suspected that the body is immersed in sand or debris.
"The worst-case scenario could be that the body floated to a nearby river that is outside Johannesburg jurisdiction."
The case has been handed to the police for further investigation.
