Joburg launches WhatsApp hotline to report reckless driving
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The City of Johannesburg has a new WhatsApp hotline which will allow motorists to report bad driving.
The new hotline will allow motorists to send photos and videos of reckless and negligent driving directly to the metro police.
“It is to ensure road safety we have noted that one of the causes of accidents is due to negligent and reckless driving,” says spokesperson Luyanda Longwe.
She says once the compliant is received, the metro police will analyse the evidence and make a submission to prosecuting authorities.
“By having everyone’s eyes on the road, and assisting JMPD to actually catch people who are driving in a way is infringing in the law.”
The hotline number is 081 410 6338.
