Joburg mayor announces new mayoral committee

New Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero announced the new members of the city's mayoral committee on Saturday afternoon.
Morero was elected mayor after the DA's Mpho Phalatse was ousted through a motion of no confidence in September.
Morero said the appointment of the new mayoral committee marks an important day in the history of Johannesburg.
"As we put together a team of men and women, we must be cognisant of the challenges that face us," Morero said.
"As we take on this task, we must put the people of Johannesburg at the centre of development and service delivery.
"The core of our Growth and Development Strategy is grounded by people, service delivery and developmental outcomes.
"This informed the collective view of who should constitute the Mayoral Committee.
"To the residents of Johannesburg, I would like to assure them that this was not a power-sharing exercise, but the coming together of different skills, capabilities and experience.
"Collectively as different parties we are united by the love we have for Johannesburg and its people.
The new leadership is as follows:
1. Finance Cllr. Margaret Arnolds
2. Group Corporate and Shared Services Cllr. Loyiso Masuku
3. Transport Cllr. Ashley Sauls
4. Development Planning Cllr. Thapelo Amad
5. Housing Cllr. Anthea Natasha Leitch
6. Economic Development Cllr. Nomoya Mnisi
7. Health and Social Development Cllr. Eunice Mgcina
8. Community Development Cllr. Lubabalo Magwentshu
9. Environment, Infrastructure and Service Delivery Cllr. Mpho Sesedinyane
10. Public Safety Cllr. Jack Sekwaila
The new MMC will be sworn-in on Monday morning at the Connie Bapela Council Chambers.
