Joburg taxi driver arrested after dragging, killing cyclist

A Johannesburg taxi driver has been arrested after hitting two cyclists in Gallo Manor.

He hit the two cyclists on Sunday.
One cyclist was dragged over half a kilometer by the taxi.
Onlookers had to stop the taxi.
"This happened at about 6:45 am in the morning when a blue Toyota Hilux minibus collided with two cyclists. A 50-year-old male cyclist was dragged by the taxi approximately 300 m on the road surface, the driver tried to flee the scene but was prevented by security guards," said Joburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
The driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and has been charged with culpable homicide.
