Joburg water supply ‘constrained’ due to load shedding, heatwave
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Johannesburg Water has warned that its systems are severely constrained due to the heatwave in Gauteng on top of the continuous load shedding.
The South African Weather Service has confirmed Gauteng's current heatwave, which affects the residents' water intake, is expected to last until at least Tuesday.
Joburg Water spokesperson Puleng Mopeli says the entity is monitoring the severely strained systems.
Affected areas include Honeydew, Parktown 2 reservoir, Helderkruin, Linden, Hursthill reservoirs, Brixton, and Horison Tower.
Mopeli has urged customers to use water sparingly.
"Minor improvements are noted on water levels from last night. The sustainability is dependent on water usage during the course of the day.
“Customers are reminded to adhere to level 1 water restrictions which prohibits the use of hosepipes between 6 am and 6 pm, customers are also encouraged to use grey water to irrigate their gardens, wash cars or clean driveways.”
