Joburg's City Power resume operations in violent hit areas
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
City Power has resumed operations after technical teams were forced to withdraw their services during the spate of violence and chaos that erupted in parts of the city over the past two weeks.
The entity resumed services, but adds that officials will not be sent out to repair faults at night until further notice.
City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says several businesses and residents in Johannesburg were affected by the halt in services last week.
"When there were power outages or electricity tripping, we couldn't move in, so it does have an impact on people and most of those areas were business hubs," says Mangena.

"We actually resumed on Monday midday after the situation improved in areas like Malvern, Jeppestown, Rossettenville Hillbrow and Joburg CBD", adds Mangena.
However, City Power is still monitoring the situation in various areas in order to preserve the safety of employees.
