Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) CEO Nicky Newton-King has committed to meeting with various businesses to hand over the #SandtonShutdown memorandum.
Large groups of mostly women started gathering in the vicinity of the JSE in the early hours of Friday morning for a sit-in.
They are protesting the increase in gender-based violence and femicide.

Newton-King had initially refused to sign the memorandum as the crowd started booing her and refused to listen.
She added that the JSE does not represent business, it is merely the place where business is.
