Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services has confirmed it will discuss a request to investigate Public Protector Busiswe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office.
The committee confirmed on Wednesday it received a request from National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise and will deal with the request when Parliament resumes in September.
Several opposition parties and civil society organisations have called for the investigation.

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says it hopes the committee will leave no stone unturned.
"South Africa cannot afford to have a public protector who has been found by the apex court of the land to have advanced falsehoods in other words who has lied under oath and misrepresented facts. There have been other damning conclusions against her have been reached by the courts.”
