Protesting Olievenhoutbosch residents have vowed to continue with their protest action on Friday.
Protestors are pelting police and motorists with rocks while some have knocked down makeshift buildings – using it to barricade roads.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says officers have been deployed in numbers to monitor the situation in the area.
But the protestors have remained defiant.
"Kill us, like the way you did in Marikana. This could be the second Marikana,” some shouted at police.
