Kruger National Park ranger wounded by suspected poacher

A Kruger National Park ranger was shot and wounded by suspected armed poachers in the park on Sunday.
SANParks said in a statement there was contact with three suspected poachers in the Houtboschrand section of the Park when a shootout ensued.
The ranger was shot and wounded in the arm.
"He was subsequently airlifted to a medical facility in Nelspruit and is in stable condition. During the contact, one of the poachers was fatally wounded and two managed to escape arrest," SANParks said.
No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
