Kodwa travels to NZ to support Banyana Banyana at World Cup

Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa is set to travel to New Zealand on Wednesday as Banyana Banyana prepares to take on Sweden in their opening match at the FIFA Women's World Cup.
The South Africans will face Sweden in Wellington on Sunday
Banyana ended their preparations for the upcoming Women's Fifa World Cup with a 2-0 win over Costa Rica in an international friendly on Saturday.
Last year, the team won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco to book their place at the showpiece event co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia.
Banyana Banyana’s preparations have however been marred by a row between the players and the South African Football Association over bonuses. .
“The minister will be travelling to New Zealand this evening to support the team in their first match against in the World Cup against Sweden as promised,” said the department’s spokesperson Litha Mpondwana.
“Banyana Banyana has been through a lot these past few weeks with their preparations for the World Cup having been disrupted, and the whole country should rally behind them because they represent the best of South Africa.”
