KZN murder accused abandons bail bid

The man accused of killing four siblings in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has abandoned his bail application.

Sibusiso Mpungose appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s court on Friday.
The bodies of 4-year-old Kuhlekonke, 6-year-old Khwezi, and 10-year-old Spesihle Mpungose were found hanged at their Wyebank home on Tuesday.
Their 16-year-old sister, Ayakha Jiyane, was later found hanging from a tree in the New Germany area.

This follows several incidences of looting and unrest on the East Rand, Johannesburg CBD and Pretoria CBD throughout the past two weeks. The total number arrests for public violence since the unrest and looting erupted in the province has risen to 497.
Provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Natasha Kara says the matter was postponed to October.
The 44-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday after police launched a manhunt.
