Lesufi: 6000 workers to close potholes in townships
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the provincial government will hire 6000 additional workers people to fix the potholes littering the streets of townships.

Lesufi made the announcement during the launch of the Cleaning and Greening Expanded Public Works Programme in Dobsonville on Sunday.
The programme has been launched as part of efforts to curb littering and illegal dumping across the province particularly in townships, informal settlements, and hostels.
“From next week, we are looking for 6000 new people to go and close potholes in our townships. If we can’t give our people jobs, then there is no future for this country,” said Lesufi.
Lesufi also promised an extension of six months to the workers who form part of the cleaning campaign.
“I am giving you six months extra now so that you can go and work in our communities”.
Two weeks ago, Lesufi launched a crime-busting unit, which saw six thousand people get employed to help the police fight crime in the province.
