Updated | By Neo Motloung
The MEC of the Department of Education in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi says 53 000 pupils have not returned to schools since the Covid-19 health crisis hit South African shores.
Lesufi has expressed concern but hopes that the thousands of pupils will find their way back to schools.
"Of the 53 000 leaners that have not returned, we really believe this is going to affect the return of learners when they are re-opening at the beginning of 2021," says Lesufi.
He briefed the media on Sunday.
