Lesufi: Graceland Education Centre must explain teen’s murder
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has warned that heads will roll at Graceland Education Centre if they do not provide answers on the death of 15-year-old Laticia Jansen.
He gave the school until 14:00 on Monday to provide answers to his department.
Jansen went missing on Wednesday while on her way home from the school in Germiston.
She has apparently been left behind by the scholar transport and had to walk home. Her body was discovered in bushes near Elsburg on Friday.
Speaking at the Jansen family home in Germiston on Monday, Lesufi expressed disappointment at the school’s apparent lack of concern over the disappearance and murder of the pupil.

“There will be dire consequences, a life has been lost and there is no explanation. At least if people could explain it could be something tangible for me to explain to the family.”
Lesufi said it is clear the school does not care about the lives of its pupils, since it was notified on Thursday about the missing 15-year-old but failed to act.
“A child has not been in class for three days and the school is not aware, and they didn’t know the child has died. I’m an MEC and I had to tell them... they were told on Thursday, and they never set foot here.”
