The six-year-old was a raped in the school's toilets, allegedly by a general worker.

Lesufi visited the Tshwane school on Thursday.

Five workers at Khensani Primary School in Soshanguve have since been asked not to report for work.

Lesufi said the department is awaiting three medical reports from social workers, medical teams and the psychosocial unit respectively.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) I got the preliminary report and I found many things in that report not clear but creating more confusion and on the basis of that I thought I should visit the crime scene and I can confirm that some things are still not clear.

“So there’s one aspect that I want to satisfy myself with. It is within that context that when I leave here I’m going to meet with the parents of the child. So that we can get that aspect cleared. I have requested the police to work with speed. They’ve indicated that they’re at the stage where they want to conduct what we call identity parade because where we stand we want to be expert-driven, we need social workers to confirm some of the information we have, we need the report from the medical teams and psychosocial unit.”

Lesufi said the family is still undecided about keeping the child at school.

“They registered their dissatisfaction on how the school handled the matter, they are undecided if they still want the child at the school or not and are consulting as a family and whatever decision they take we will implement as the department.”
