Light at the end of the tunnel for bus strike

A new wage offer was put on the
table in a meeting between transport unions and employers on Thursday
afternoon.
The bus strike is now in its third week, with negotiations thus far failing to break the deadlock. h.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) spokesperson, Zanele Sabela, says they will be reporting back to their members.
Sabela adds that all five unions will hold a press conference on Friday in Kempton Park to announce a way forward.

Meanwhile, bus companies believe that the talks went well and are hopeful that the strike will end soon.
Mishak Rameka, speaking on behalf of employers, says they offered the unions 9% increase from "date of signature" and 8% from April next year.
"Other contentious issues will be going to a task team to resolve," Rameka says.
"We believe from the employers side we've done the best we could to meet the demands of workers.”
