Limpopo cabinet reshuffle looming
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile

Sources in the ruling party said the ANC's Provincial Working Committee was on Monday informed that Mathabatha will announce a cabinet reshuffle after the party PEC’s meeting scheduled for early next week.
The reshuffle was expected after the death of Education MEC Thembi Nwendamutswu in January.
A source in Mathabatha’s office said the premier would make an announcement that would see some MECs demoted to ordinary members of legislature.
“He wants to beef up the operation, and that is the only time to do that,” said a source in Mathabatha’s office.
According to the insider, the reshuffle was delayed after consultations with his advisers, and put Mathabatha under pressure especially from teaching union Sadtu.
It is believed that positions for Sports, Arts and Culture, Health, and Transport are also likely to come in for change.
Dr Phophi Ramathuba, chairperson of South African Medical Doctors Association is expected to be appointed MEC for Health.
The performance of education without an MEC has become a concern to unions and other stakeholders. It is expected that Jerry Ndou might continue as caretaker MEC.
