Limpopo couple arrested for murder of daughter

Police have arrested a couple for the murder of their own daughter in Mogaung village, near Groblersdal.

According to Limpopo police, the 8-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries after she was allegedly abused and assaulted.
She died in hospital on Wednesday.
Limpopo Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the 31-year old woman and her 35-year old boyfriend are both from Mozambique.
"It is reported that the community members became aware of the situation that the victim was physically being abused by her parents."
"On Wednesday, a community member approached the family following suspicions of a serious incident that occurred to the girl and through intelligence gathered it was found that the victim was seriously injured from being physically assaulted."
"The victim was rushed to the hospital whereby she succumbed to her injurie," added Ledwaba.
He adds they are investigating a case of murder with two counts of the contravention of immigration act against the couple.
The suspects, who are the stepmother and biological father to the victim, are expected to appear in the Nebo Magistrate's Court on Friday.
