Limpopo couple burn to death in house fire

Police in Limpopo are investigating the cause of a fire which saw a couple burn to death in their rented house in Sepgakgapeng village.

It is believed the couple from Mahwelereng burnt to death while they were sleeping on Sunday evening.
Provincial police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says the couple was last seen entering their house around 10pm on Sunday.
"The neighbours noticed the house engulfed in flames and rushed to the place and tried to put down the fire.
"The police, fire fighters and emergency services were summoned to the scene and upon arrival, they managed to extinguish the fire.
"Unfortunately, the victims identified as Mokgalabje Johannes Bapela aged 44 and Lisbeth Matlou aged 40, were already burned beyond recognition.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
