Limpopo, Gauteng ANC want Ramaphosa for second term, Mashatile as deputy

The ANC in Limpopo and Gauteng have agreed to support President Cyril Ramaphosa for a second term as party leader.
The provincial executive committees from the two provinces met in Gauteng on Tuesday to discuss matters of mutual interest, including the upcoming national conference in December.
The two provinces also endorsed current ANC treasurer Paul Mashatile for the position of deputy president.
The Top Six slate includes Limpopo ANC chairperson Stanley Mathatabatha as national chairperson and former Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane as the deputy secretary general.
In a joint statement released on Thursday, the executives said the candidates endorsed represents the very best in the ANC.
"The individual attributes of each of the proposed leaders make for a collective that has the necessary experience and track record of activism that is needed to actualise the ideals of a national democratic society. The ANC in Gauteng and Limpopo are determined to work closely together to ensure the realisation of critical interventions that are needed to improve the lives of communities in the two provinces. The officials have affirmed their commitment to maintaining continuous dialogue to evaluate progress on the undertakings herein stated," the statement read.

The party is preparing to host its national elective conference in December, where members will elect the leadership for the next five years.
The conference will take place from 16 to 21 December at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.
The Northern Cape province has also thrown its weight behind Ramaphosa's election for a second term making it the sixth province to support the incumbent.
For the deputy president, the PEC has recommended treasurer-general Paul Mashatile, Eastern Cape premier and chair Oscar Mabuyane, Ronald Lamola, David Mabuza, Senzo Mchunu and Mamoloko Kubayi.
While the support for Ramaphosa is taking shape in six provinces, the party's largest region in the country, eThekwini has endorsed former health minister Zweli Mkhize as its preferred candidate for the position of president.
The region is also backing Mashatile for deputy president.
