Limpopo gears up for cyclone Freddy
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Limpopo Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Department says they are ready to assist residents as cyclone Freddy approaches.
The tropical storm is expected to make landfall in the Vhembe and Mopani regions over the weekend.
This after the storm lashed Mozambique on Friday.
The cyclone tore through parts of Madagascar on Wednesday, killing four people while affecting 16 600 citizens.
MEC Basikopo Makamu has urged residents to desist from traveling if not necessary and warned them to avoid flooded rivers and bridges.
“Our teams are ready for any eventuality, and we have evacuation plans in place in case of flooding. We encourage those located in waterlogged areas to be ready in case they need to be evacuated.”
