A Limpopo man has been convicted of the murder of Capricorn TVET College student Precious Ramabulana.
The trial of Aubrey Manaka (29), was set to start on Wednesday in the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane, but he entered a guilty plea on all the charges.
He was also convicted on charges of rape, murder, robbery and housebreaking.
Ramabulana, a 21-year-old college student at Capricorn TVET’s Ramokgopa campus, was found stabbed to death in her room in an off-campus residence in Mokomene on 24 November 2019.
The police found her body in a pool of blood with several stab wounds.
Manaka was subsequently arrested at his parental home in Botlokwa in November 2019.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi- Dzhangi says the accused abandoned bail during his first court appearance.
“Police investigations also revealed that Manaka was involved in the rape case of a four-year-old girl in 2014. This case has since been reinstated.”
The case has been adjourned to Thursday for sentencing proceedings.
