Limpopo man kills two sons, self
The police in Limpopo have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading up to a 41-year-old man who hacked his two sons to death.
The man subsequently hanged himself.
The incident happened in Mapakophele village in Vhembe district on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the three bodies were discovered by community members who then called the police.
"On their arrival, they found the 41-year-old man hanging on a tree while the lifeless bodies of his sons, a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old, respectively, were found in the nearby bushes.
"The children were found with open wounds. Police also confiscated a panga on the scene, believed to have been used to kill the children,” says Ledwaba.
He says while the motive for the incident is still unknown, domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
