Limpopo mother beats son (10) with panga

A 29-year-old Limpopo mother has appeared in
court for allegedly beating 10-year-old son with a panga for coming home
late on Saturday.
Police in Giyani arrested Winnie Chauke after neigbours heard the child scream.
She appeared in the local magistrate’s court on Monday.
Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says that the child is recovering in hospital.
“The poor child had to be rescued by the neighbors who heard his frantic screams as the assault was in progress. The child had to be hospitalised and the woman appeared on Monday on a charge of assault with intent to cause bodily harm.
“The case was remanded to the 2nd of March for a formal bail application,” he adds.
