The MEC for Social Development in Limpopo, Nkakareng Rakgoale says the life imprisonment imposed on a 36-year old man by the Morebeng Regional Court will serve as a deterrent to would-be abusers of women and children.

This after the court sentenced the man who raped his nine-year-old non-biological sibling at Botlokwa Eis Leven in October 2017.

“This lengthy sentence will hopefully go a long way in sending a strong message to the perpetrators of gender-based violence," says Rakgoale.

The MEC continues to urge members of the public who are suspicious of incidents of abuse against women and children to approach social workers and break the silence.
