Police in Limpopo police arrested twenty-three people in Mooketsi on Sunday on suspicion of contravening the Immigration Act.

Acting on a tip-off, police discovered two South Africans transporting twenty-three Somali nationals on the R81 outside Tzaneen.
Limpopo police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba said more than R400 000 was also found hidden in one of the suspect’s cars.
“A gold Volkswagen Golf suddenly stopped at the scene, and subsequently, the driver of the Quantum boarded into the Golf, and it sped off from the scene, thus evading arrest. The police discovered 64 cross-border permits in the Toyota Quantum.
“Police have immediately activated a manhunt for the suspect responsible for human trafficking who fled the scene.”
Mashaba said the police have contacted the Department of Home Affairs and Social Development to process the cases of contravention of the Immigration Act, which involved minor suspects.
The suspects are set to appear in the Bolobedu Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
