“This extreme, the wintery weather will include snowfalls and mainly over the Southern and central parts of the Drakensberg, accompanied by cold conditions over many parts of South Africa,” says forecaster Edward Engelbert.

There is also a risk of localised heavy rain and incidents of flash flooding in KZN on Wednesday and Thursday.
“Gauteng will still remain fairly warm on Wednesday. We expect Johannesburg and Vereeniging to go down to about 26 degrees and Pretoria to about 28 degrees. On Thursday we expect the cold front to move through the northeastern parts of the country,” adds Engelbert.
He says the cold weather should clear by Friday.
