LISTEN: Diepsloot residents to disrupt Winnie Mandela funeral
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
A group of disgruntled residents
from Diepsloot is allegedly planning to disrupt the funeral procession of
struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on Saturday.
Madikizela-Mandela’s casket will be transported from her official funeral at Orlando Stadium to Fourways, where she will be laid to rest next to her great-granddaughter.
The residents are apparently unhappy over a stalled government project in the area.
The Johannesburg Metro Police’s Wayne Minnaar says they have received a tip-off that the funeral procession will be disrupted.
"We have received information that a group of people from Diepsloot who want to disrupt the activities. We are working on that information and we will deal with it as we go along," says Minnaar.
