[LISTEN] Holomisa: ANC and DA could both benefit if they work together
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa believes a coalition agreement between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) could be beneficial to both parties.

This as the local government elections produced a record number of hung councils, including in Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay.
“What we need to do is to look at the parties one and two, like the ANC and DA, and say stop politicising local government,” Holomisa said at the IEC’s national results centre in Tshwane on Thursday.
“DA and ANC should work together and form a government in those areas and they will benefit because one, race relations will improve in this country.

“Number two is that they are not obsessed with ideological differences, after all there is no differences in ideology in all of these political parties.”
Coalition talks are set to begin as soon as the IEC declares the election results on Thursday evening.
The DA has made it known that it is willing to go into coalition talks with any party except for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
The ANC has also confirmed that it is open to coalitions with any party that shares the same principles.
