[LISTEN] Political dynamics in Zim linked to economic solutions: Pandor
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor believes political and economic solutions to the crisis in Zimbabwe are interlinked.
Pandor made the remarks as she addressed delegates at a symposium on the economy of Zimbabwe in Pretoria on Monday.
She said economic sanctions have failed to address Zimbabwe’s problems and have instead have made it worse.
"The situation in Zimbabwe has been equally negative for those with a livelihood and for those who don't have one. Zimbabwe has experienced a significant loss of skills in the past decade and this has harmed the possibility of efficient management of key economic sectors and institutions.”
Pandor said Zimbabwe's economic situation needs practical solutions and not mere policy pronouncements.
"We need to be wary of being famous for excellent conference statements but inadequate practical action."
