[LISTEN] Water to be restored in Joburg on Monday afternoon

Rand Water says repair work to a major burst pipe was completed early on Monday morning.

Technicians have been working on the problem since Saturday night.

 

The utility expects water supply to affected areas to be restored by Monday afternoon. 

 

The areas affected on Sunday included Germiston, Bedfordview, Primrose Hill, Windsor, Isando, Glen Marais, Kempton Park, Halfway House, Rooihuiskraal, Kosmosdal, Southcrest, Linmeyer, Diepsloot and Tembisa.

 

Rand Water's Eddie Singo says water started flowing through the pipes again on Monday morning.

Areas in the north and the east of the city that are supplied by the Signal Hill, Northridge, Alexander, Bedford, Germiston, Klipfontein and Brakfontein reservoirs are all affected.
